We have been connecting innovators of specialist scientific instruments and equipment used in biotech, biopharma and cell and gene therapy with clever research and development teams for nearly 30 years.
Our business was founded by Colin Burdick and we use his namesake, Colin the Cell, to tell more about what we do. Watch the animation above to see Colin bring Cell Line Development, Upstream Processing and Downstream Processing to life.

I have an engineering background and joined BPES in 2000, Although I now run the company, I’m never happier than when talking to customers and partners, discovering the challenges they face and helping to solve their problems. It’s so inspiring to be a part of this sector and seeing the very real benefit that our solutions can bring to our customers and ultimately patients.
When I’m not at work I love the outdoors and most weekends I try to get out in my canoe or go for a hike or camping. My ultimate weekend involves all 3! My job allows me to travel and I love discovering new places and cultures.

I’m a Biochemical Engineer by training and have had a wide-ranging technical career with a focus on bioprocess understanding, development and innovation. At BPES I provide sales and technical support for our varied bioprocessing portfolio. I very much enjoy visiting our customers in the field to discover the challenges they face and to provide solutions from our partners to meet their needs.
My two young boys keep me on my toes and the Craughan family are usually found running around the park or dodging waves at the beach.
I hail from the USA where I earned a PhD in anatomy and cell biology whilst working as a student researcher. My research focused on male germ cell development and I gained extensive technical skills in fluorescent microscopy and cell imaging. Although I loved my time in the laboratory, I always knew that I belonged in a customer-facing role within the biotechnology industry. I crossed the pond in 2018 to finally join my husband and have been expanding my professional skillset in a recruitment position since then. I have recently joined the BPES family and I couldn’t be more excited to begin working with our suppliers and meeting customers to support their needs in cell line development!
At the centre of my world is a goofy golden retriever named George. When I’m not bothering him, I enjoy all things outdoors, baking, quoting Harry Potter, travelling anywhere and making new friends in the lovely UK.
I am a Technical Sales Specialist focusing on the Solaris Biotech product range of bioreactors, fermenters and their accessories. I graduated from the University of Sheffield with a Masters in Chemistry and began my career in the Life Science sector; performing diagnostics and WGS on COVID-19 samples. What I enjoy most about my current role is the ability to travel; both internationally and across the UK, whilst meeting with clients and developing relationships. I especially delight in working with customers on a personal level, being part of their journey from the early stages of R&D, observing the cell’s behaviour, through to a successful, full-scale production.
Outside of work, I take great pleasure from CrossFit, exploring on my bikes, learning Spanish and spending quality time with my loved ones.
I am a technical sales specialist focussing on HPNE and their single use custom assemblies. I hold a degree in biomedical science and have experience in both R&D and commercial labs. In my most recent position I worked as a senior scientist in the production of genomic data on SARS-CoV-19.
I am eager to use my skills to assist customers and I enjoy being exposed to a wide range of projects and leaders within our industry!
Outside of work I love travelling within the UK and around the world as well as attending gigs/festivals, running obstacle course races, and cooking up homemade wood-fired pizzas (success varied)
I Joined BPES in 2005 after spending 19 years working in Pilot Plants and Production Facilities in both Academia and Industry. I enjoy travelling and the challenge of working on equipment, some of which I have known and looked after for some 20 plus years! I enjoy the mental challenge of troubleshooting and problem solving. During my time at BPES I’ve learnt design, drawings and production of bespoke components and small control systems.
Music is my life and I’ve always got a tune in my head. In my spare time I enjoy listening to music, playing guitar and singing.
I have a science degree and joined the BPES team in 2008. I am responsible for implementing our Health & Safety Policy and managing our ISO Quality System as well as being involved in the sales process. I really enjoy the interaction with our customers and partners and very much appreciate the long term relationships that BPES have established over the years.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, walking the dogs, horse riding and gardening. Living on a busy farm, there is always something to do!
I have been working with BPES since 2012. My main role primarily focuses on handling the internal sales function including providing quotations along with sales order and purchase order processing. I love that this gives me the opportunity to form relationships with customers and suppliers. I am also involved with our quality (ISO9001) procedures and conduct regular internal audits.
In my spare time I love travelling with my family, swimming in warm tropical waters and visiting places of interest to experience a little of the culture of the country – we are typical tourists! I love gardening cottage style and flower arranging having attended courses for 3 years! To relax I enjoy reading thriller-type detective novels, primarily by Peter May, Jo Nesbo, John Grisham and Lee Child.
